Causeway Bay History and Heritage Series – Co-creating Heritage Map: Youth Community Docent Training Programme

Co-creating Heritage Map: Youth Community Docent Training Programme is the first phase of the Causeway Bay History and Heritage Series project. We recruit youths aged 16-35 to join diversified trainings that deepen their understanding of historic buildings. Combining creativity and multimedia technology, they will apply their learnings by designing themed guided tour routes and making related videos for historic buildings in the district to promote the area’s history.

Video Editing and Filming Workshops

5 sessions of professional video editing and filming workshops covering theoretical lessons and practical know-how guidance. Participants will learn how to tell urban stories through their own video.

Creation

Plan a Causeway Bay-themed tour route; produce a video based on the chosen route

September–October

Video Submission and Judging

 

Videos will be judged based on the following criteria:

►Thematic Content (design of the route theme, scope, and cultural significance) – 50%

►Video Production Techniques (angles, storytelling, and other skills) – 50%

Judging Panel:

Mr. Chan Chi Yuen (Co-founder and CEO, Walk in Hong Kong)

Dr. Tang Ka Chau (Director, Society of Hong Kong History)

Mr. Chiu Wing Fung (Veteran Film & TV Producer)

Ms. Choi Ching Nga (Director for TV variety shows)

Champion: $2,000 electronics gift voucher and a trophy
1st Runner-up: $1,000 electronics gift voucher and a trophy
2nd Runner-up: $500 electronics gift voucher and a trophy

The three winning short films may be used to promote Causeway Bay Heritage Fun Day and will be publicly screened on the event day. An award ceremony will also be held on the same day. All participants who complete the program and submit their works will receive a certificate. The ten creative routes will be compiled by Po Leung Kuk into a published Causeway Bay Cultural Map.
